Stay Between the Lines. The Lines Are Our Friends

Posted on January 10, 2008. Filed under: Book Club, Book Wise |

Rules! Ugh! What kind of a book club is this anyway?

These rules are more of the friendly nature and will give you an idea of what to expect will be coming from this club.

~ Have fun!

~ Meet new people.

~ PG rated material only. (We could have kids joining us and we want to nurture them not scare them into adulthood faster than they are ready.)

~ We love people that are opinionated. Share your thoughts freely. The only time you will be kicked out is if your conversation has become X rated.

~ The list of books will be posted at all times with a link to where they can be purchased. We will be listing the books at least three months ahead of time so you can purchase them in a timely manner. We will be voting each month for the books we want to do.

~ Join our weekly live discussions. The times are listed below under “A Book Club You Don’t Want to Miss”. We will not post the phone number and access code here for security reasons. Please e-mail me to let me know you want to join in the chats. I will e-mail the phone number and access code the day of the chat.

~ We can talk about the author, their website, interviews we’ve heard or read about the author or their book of the month, and appearances we’ve seen. It will be our goal to have at least one live discussion time with the author so you can talk to them directly.

~ Free books will be given away off and on, based on the what we can find.

DO:

~ Show respect for the author and their work. Writing a book is a big task and the authors deserve our respect even if we don’t agree with them.

~ Be aware that the author himself/herself could be a member of our club.

~ Feel free to post your ideas and feelings on this blog. If something in the book made you feel good, tell us.

~ When we start a post about our book of the month, please keep that thread all on the same topic.

~ Write SPOILER at the beginning of your post, if you are going to reveal info from later on in the story.

~ Take time to visit the links in the “Links” section and get to know the other members.

DON’T:

>Argue with someone if you do not agree with their ideas. They are allowed to be different. If we all agreed, we would have very short chats.

This book club is going to be so much fun. Not only will we enjoy ourselves but we will be expanding our minds. Don’t forget you can purchase other books, c.d.’s, DVDs, games and textbooks at our online bookstore Bookworms United. Plus if you want to learn how to set up your own online bookstore and create your own book club click on Own Your Own Bookstore.

Please e-mail me and let me know you will be joining us.

Happy Reading,
Michelle
